Helen Barsby
New Zealand
I hope to have found what I have been
searching for with
Brass Sound Creation. Mr Kato's trumpets are surprising from
the begining. Because I perform in many varied situations I need instruments
which offer flexibility, warmth and personality, as well as the good high
register, intonation, projection and all one expects from professional
equipment. Even the student
"Millenium"
model provides these facets.
I wish
Brass Sound Creation
in its various models all the very best, and welcome
it to the forum for personality amongst trumpeters!
< Helen Clare Barsby >
- grew up in New Zealand, where she first studied
the trumpet at the School of Music in the Victoria University of Wellington. She
visited Europe twice as a member of Les Jeunesses Musicales Worldorchestra
(1991/2) and decided to continue her studies in Europe, firstly in Germany
(Detmold and Frankfurt), and in Holland a study in "Early Music in The
Hague".
During her studies Helen Barsby had the chance perform with the following
ensembles: New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, "The Baroque Players",
Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Hessischen Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the
Landestheater Detmold.
At the same time she performed the musicals in Stuttgart
(Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, Cats). Because she loves variety she was
co-founder in 1997 of a brass quartet "Brass Unlimited" (whose first
CD came out in 2001),
Since 1998 she is a member of a modern jazz ensemble
"The United Women's Orchestra" (on two of their CD's), since 2001 she
is with "Rock & Gebläse", and since 2002 a member of the brass
sextet "Women in Brass".
On the baroque trumpet she has performed in
Germany, Belgium, Holland and in New Zealand. In her spare time she is studying
to become a teacher of Iyenger Yoga, planning to add this dimension to her
travelling life in the future.
